The Porcile Lakes, three alpine lakes of glacial origin located in an unspoilt landscape, the Alta Via della Val Tartano (Val Tartano Upper Trail), a panoramic route that travels along the valley’s entire perimeter, the Frasnino Park, perfect for birdwatching and relaxing picnics and the Rovedatti mountain bivouac, where dawns and sunsets of rare beauty can be admired.

Located about 20 minutes from the Costiera dei Cech, Val Masino is an alpine valley renowned for its imposing granite formations which make it a prime destination for climbing and bouldering enthusiasts. It is home to the picturesque Val di Mello Nature Reserve which features lakes, waterfalls, streams, pools of crystal-clear water, expanses of green meadows and huts that are easily reached by families and nature lovers. An important attraction is the Sasso Remenno, Europe’s largest rock monolith, which offers a variety of climbing styles, from slabs to overhangs. The valley is also known for its Roma Trail, a hiking route for experienced walkers along the Masino-Bregaglia-Disgrazia massif which represents one of the most fascinating routes in the Alps and for the Preda Rossa plain, a unique and fascinating place where the rocks tell an age-old story:
the encounter between the granite of the Plutone del Masino and the serpentinites of Valmalenco tinges the walls a warm and suggestive red, after which this unique valley was named. A horizontal world suspended between sky and glaciers, crossed by the spectacular curves of the River Duino and dominated by Mount Disgrazia, which watches over the perennial snows of the Predarossa glacier.
The hamlets of Bagni di Masino, renowned for its impressive beech stand and hot springs, Cataeggio, Filorera and San Marina serve as starting points for hiking and outdoor activities.

During the winter, the valley is a paradise for skiers, with the ski lifts and slopes of the Pescegallo ski resort and the unique settings where ski mountaineering or snowshoeing can be practiced.
In summertime, there are countless hiking trails immersed in nature that lead to wonderful alpine lakes, mountain huts and unique views, such as the Walk to Lake Pescegallo, perfect as the first true hike for young walkers, A Tour of the Lakes, which will help you discover the alpine lakes of Trona, Inferno, Rotondo, and Zancone, providing breathtaking views and encounters with typical fauna such as ibexes and marmots.
For those who wish to experience true adventures in Valgerola, one of the most suitable hikes is the ascent to the Pizzo Tre Signori, the highest peak in all of the valley. Those, instead, who prefer to regenerate themselves and taste typical local products can opt for a walk up to the numerous mountain huts such as the Salutano Hut, Trona Hut or Alpe Stavello Hut.
Valgerola is also the custodian of a rich cultural tradition: the Valgerola Ecomuseum manages three museums: “La Nostra Storia” (Our History) and “La Casa del Tempo” (The House of Time), located in Upper Gerola and the Homo Salvadego Museum in the community of Sacco in the Cosio Valtellino municipality, as well as thematic routes such as the Ecomusensi, dedicated to children.
Yet another outstanding local product is the renowned Bitto cheese, made in this valley according to the traditional methods that have been handed down for generations. Here the history of this local product with a unique and inimitable taste continues to be written.

Situated in lower Valtellina just minutes from the Costiera dei Cech, Morbegno is a town that combines history, culture and a food and wine tradition. The old town boasts outstanding buildings such as the Palazzo Malacrida, a jewel in Rococo style, the Collegiate Church of San Giovanni Battista, dating back to the late 18th century, the Ganda Bridge, built in 1778, the Shrine of the Beata Vergine Assunta, consecrated in 1506, and many other sites of great historical and architectural importance.
The streets and corners of the town provide picturesque views, revealing a lively city that brings together tradition and modernity, making it an unmissable destination for those who wish to experience the authenticity and flavour of Valtellina culture.
Morbegno is also famous for its food and wine tradition, in particular for producing the renowned Bitto cheese, one of Valtellina’s outstanding culinary products, celebrated each year during the event “the Bitto Exhibition”.

Located near Costiera dei Cech, Valchiavenna is an alpine valley that combines nature, history and food and wine traditions. The heart of the valley is Chiavenna, a fascinating town proudly bearing the Italian Touring Club’s orange flag and featuring cobbled alleyways, historic buildings and the San Lorenzo Collegiate Church.
In the surroundings, you will find wonders such as the Acquafraggia waterfalls in Piuro and Palazzo Vertemate Franchi, one of the Lombardy region’s most important Renaissance mansions, immersed in a landscape of vineyards and chestnut groves.
Outdoor sports lovers can explore the valley using the many itineraries, including the historic Via Spluga, a hiking route that crosses the territory and continues to Switzerland. The Pian di Spagna Nature Reserve and Lake Mezzola, located at the crossroads between Valtellina and Valchiavenna, is a protected area of around 1600 hectares and serves as a habitat for many animal and plant species. Of European importance as it serves to promote the survival of biodiversity, this reserve is a destination for birdwatchers and nature photographers owing to its wetlands, cane thickets and ponds. Hikers can follow the well-marked paths on foot or on bicycle or participate in guided tours to learn more about the local ecosystem.
